BBNaija season 5 winner, Laycon joins Grammy Recording Academy

Big Brother Naija Season 5 Winner, Lockdown, Olamilekan Adbeleshe, also known as Laycon has been elected a member the Grammy record academy.

Laycon posted this announcement on his verified social-media page, where he shared a encrypted photo of him singing.

He wrote: Africa up! Officially, I am now a member @recordingacademy. This group includes the top creators and professionals who support, celebrate and advocate for the music community all year. #IAmTheAcademy #LayconXGRAMMYs

The announcement is followed by congratulations messages from Big Brother Naija reality star Neo, Ankolecky, Boma and many other fans. Laycon was furious at the way he was overlooked by the organizers for the Headies Awards.

Laycon stated in a series tweets that he would like to be recognized for his craft, even if he doesn’t win an award.

He tweeted: “I’ve never been one to judge people using the adjective “BEST”, but I view awards as a compliment and something to say “Hey!” We appreciate all you have done, and we believe you should be awarded this. It doesn’t mean that everyone else didn’t work hard! !.

Television stations, radio stations, OAPs, etc. get awards for their efforts. However, if you work hard and don’t get any recognition for your work, your emotions can take over.

No be everyone Dem go win award, and no be every Dem go nominate to still complain about no be them collecting the award. Everyone works hard to get to this point. I am emotional, so I won’t lie to you, but I think I don’t deserve half the things I get and where I come from. So I’ve had to do twice as much in this industry.

Laycon is the artist who visited BBN to promote his music and won the show. You’ll need to look within, we all do music, and we all dey listen to the best music, lol.
