Sen. Bola Tinubu, a presidential candidate, has contributed N50 million to the families of those killed by gunmen in Owo on Sunday, as well as additional N25 million to the church.
This pledge was given by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, June 6 during a visit to commiserate with the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the people of OWo.
On Sunday, June 5, unknown gunmen opened fire on attendees at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, killing over 50 people and injuring many more.
Tinubu, speaking alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the Palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, condemned the horrific attack on the innocent worshippers and vowed to work with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to support the victims of the Owo Massacre.
Tinubu contributed N50 million to victims’ families and N25 million to the church, according to Akredolu, who shared images from the visit on Twitter.
“Today, we welcomed Asiwaju @officialABAT, the APC’s National Leader, as well as former @HouseNGR Speaker, @YakubDogara, and other prominent Nigerians, who came to sympathize with us over the Sunday terror assault at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street in Owo.
“We appreciate Asiwaju Tinubu’s donation of 50 million naira to the families of the terror attack victims and another 25 million naira to the Catholic Church.” Akeredolu expressed himself on Twitter.
